Oak is familiar. Brazil offers more to discover.

Oak
The Familiar Reference

For generations, Oak has defined much of the flavour language of aged spirits around the world. Within the FRONTEIRA collection, Oak is the familiar starting point - the wood most spirits drinkers already recognise - before the collection moves Beyond Oak into Brazil’s own maturation woods: Amburana, Bálsamo and Jequitibá.
Amburana
Warm and Expressive

Brazil has a distinctive tradition of maturing cachaça in woods beyond Oak. Amburana is warm, aromatic and expressive - revealing vanilla and soft caramel that make it one of the most inviting entry points into FRONTEIRA’s Beyond Oak flavour world.
Warm · Vanilla · Caramel · Aromatic
The color, too, is entirely natural - shaped only by maturation in Amburana wood.
In the arid Caatinga of Brazil's Northeast, Amburana is known locally as a “wise” tree - it sheds its leaves and blooms precisely during the driest months, filling the sertão with an unmistakable sweet scent. For generations, cachaça producers there built their aging vats from its wood to soften rustic, high-proof spirits. That same warmth has since travelled far beyond Brazil: craft brewers now age Imperial Stouts on Amburana, and American Bourbon distillers release limited “Amburana finish” whiskeys prized for their cinnamon and vanilla character.

Bálsamo
Herbal and Spiced

Bálsamo is herbal, spiced and expressive - a distinctive interplay that reveals a deeper, more mysterious side of Brazil. It is one of the clearest examples of what lies Beyond Oak.
Herbal · Spiced · Expressive · Complex
Here too: the color comes only from the Bálsamo wood, with no colorants added.
In Salinas, in northern Minas Gerais - the historic heart of Brazilian artisanal cachaça - Bálsamo (also known as Cabreúva) earned its place at a time when European oak was scarce and costly for small producers. Its wood proved resistant and watertight, and its resinous sap has long been valued in folk medicine for its healing scent; wildlife in the forest has even been observed rubbing against its trunk, drawn to the same natural fragrance. That herbal intensity, once a regional secret in Salinas, has since caught the attention of European gin and vermouth makers seeking bolder, more botanical profiles.

Jequitibá
Elegant and Delicate

Jequitibá is elegant, delicate and floral - lending a silky, balanced character that reveals a refined side of Brazil. Alongside Amburana and Bálsamo, it forms part of FRONTEIRA’s Beyond Oak flavour world.
Elegant · Delicate · Floral · Balanced
The same holds for Jequitibá: pure wood-derived color, with no additives.
Known in Brazil as the “King of the Forest,” Jequitibá is among the country's most majestic native trees - some specimens are estimated to be 600 to 900 years old, standing long before Brazil's own history began. Its abundance across São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais made it the timber of choice for classic cachaça coopers, who valued a wood that could soften a spirit without masking its character. That same quiet elegance is now prized by white-spirit producers in Japan and the Nordics, who use it to round out a distillate while letting its original character shine through.
